Date: March 21, 2022

Dear Human Resources Colleague,

We are committed to providing vital services that put you and your employees in control of your financial futures. As part of that commitment, we provide online tools and resources that save time and effort.

You can find information and online tools to help your employees understand their potential Social Security benefits on our Information for Human Resource Professionals webpage. More information about all of our online services is available on our online services webpage. You and your employees can use our online services to:

  • Review Your Information. You can access your secure, personal information, and earnings history. Your future benefits are based on the earnings we have so it is important to make sure your earnings record is correct.
  • Apply for Benefits. You can apply for retirement, disability, and Medicare benefits without having to visit a local Social Security office.
  • Find Help and Answers. You can find answers to your most frequently asked questions, as well as links to our publications and other informational websites.

People age 18 and older may create a personal my Social Security account from any location and on any device at www.ssa.gov/myaccount. With a personal my Social Security account, most people can request a replacement Social Security card or Medicare card online. You can also get personalized retirement and spouse’s benefit estimates, check your application, or appeal status, and review your Social Security Statement.

You should review your Statement periodically. Your Statement is an easy-to-read summary of the estimated benefits you and your family could receive, including potential retirement, disability, and survivor benefits. You can find more information about the Statement at www.ssa.gov/myaccount/statement.

Our agency also has tools designed to help businesses like yours securely exchange business information with us. Make sure to visit our Information for Employers webpage and Business Services Online for information about reporting your employee’s wages to us, view name and Social Security number (SSN) errors, or request verification of SSNs.

Social Security is here to help you and your employees get secure access to the information you need, today and tomorrow.
